What benefits do young people aged 16 to 28 see reading?

The statistics tell us that there is a slight but sustained decrease detected in the purchase and reading of books by young people. As an example, a national survey organized by the Association of Diaries of the Interior of Argentina conducted in 2016 to 1600 adolescents between 14 and 18 years, showed that only 15% of them buy books, while only 30 % claims to read books not related to their studies.

Added to this is the negative and prejudiced view that adults usually have about the subject, which, dyed "all time past was better", label the young segment as   "definitely little reader".

However, this does not coincide with the self-perception of themselves, who with a broader view of what it means to be a reader today, created a manifesto: I am young, I am a reader, where they define themselves as readers because they read all the time, in all place and in all kinds of formats.

We share here the main reasons to read expressed by young people from 16 to 28 years of age in the city of Buenos Aires and suburbs.
